Post snowfall, mercury drops below freezing point in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: As the ninth snow spell came to an end, the Valley witnessed one of the coldest nights of the winter on Friday. The night temperature plummeted to -14°C in the Gulmarg resort in north Kashmir.



Srinagar: As the ninth snow spell came to an end, the Valley witnessed one of the coldest nights of the winter on Friday. The night temperature plummeted to -14°C in the Gulmarg resort in north Kashmir. The minimum temperatures across the Kashmir valley dropped drastically after days of heavy snowfall.  In Srinagar city, the overnight temperature was recorded at -5.7°C, making it the coldest February night in a decade. In the gateway town of the Valley, Qazigund, the mercury dropped to -9°C. North Kashmir’s Kupwara town recorded a minimum temperature of -7.4°C. The Gulmarg ski resort in north Kashmir was the coldest at -14°C overnight. tns
