Srinagar, January 11

Joint resistance leadership (JRL) members Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik on Friday expressed concern over the condition of prisoners lodged in jails in and outside the state.

In a joint statement, the separatists described the condition of prisoners as “pathetic”. The leaders said the prisoners were being denied “every right guaranteed in the national or international jail manual”.

“Revengeful attitude of the rulers has crossed every limit of heartlessness and insensitivity. They wilfully prolong their stay in jails,” the statement said.

The three leaders said, “slow and humiliating judicial process has ruined the life of so many young people.”
