  • For the second consecutive day, curfew-like restrictions were imposed in Srinagar’s volatile old city and some parts of the Civil Lines area
  • The authorities said the restrictions were imposed to maintain law and order on Friday as there were fears of protests over the killings of two militants and a “civilian” in the old city during a gunfight on Wednesday. Due to the curbs, no Friday prayers were offered at the historical Jamia Masjid
  • A police officer said the situation remained peaceful in the city on Friday
  • Classes at Kashmir University, higher secondary schools and colleges were suspended to prevent students’ protests. TNS
