Students of Jammu Sanskriti School, Kathua, have bagged medals in the recently concluded second Pathankot Karate Cup held at Samvati Jain School, Pathankot.

Students of Jammu Sanskriti School, Kathua, have bagged medals in the recently concluded second Pathankot Karate Cup held at Samvati Jain School, Pathankot. As many as 450 students from various schools participated in the sporting event. Students of the school clinched six gold, 11 silver and 14 bronze medals in the championship. The medal winners and coach were congratulated by the school management and the principal.

NCC camp at Nagrota

A 12-day long "Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat" camp began at the NCC Camping Ground, Nagrota. The camp being run by the 2 J&K Girls Batallion, NCC, will be held from October 11 to 22 with a strength of 500 cadets. The Group Commander, NCC, Group Headquarters, Jammu, welcomed all cadets and ANO, including contingent from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. He told the cadets to be self-disciplined besides following rules and regulations. The cadets were advised to learn the culture and language of one another. Later, a lecture on the art and culture of J&K was taken up by the Principal, Government Boys Degree College, Udhampur, wherein, he discussed about the various art forms, monuments, cuisines, traditions, folk dances, languages and tourist places of J&K. 

Felicitation programme for students

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Leh unit, on Monday organised a felicitation programme for the students at EJM College auditorium. The executive councillor of the Leh Hill Development Council, Konchok Stanzin, was the chief guest while Professor Pardeep Kumar Das and Tsering Tsomo as the guests of honour. As manay as 225 students participated in the Sunil Padha Memorial Gyan Pratiyogita Test wherein, the first three rank holders were awarded cash prizes. The talented students from four higher secondary schools, two colleges and one university were felicitated with certificates.

Kho-Kho tournament begins

The kno-kho tournament of the Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) in both men and women section started at the Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar, on Monday. The tournament is being organised by the Department of Dean Students Welfare, CLUJ. In the men section, the Government SPMR College of Commerce beat GGM Science College while Government MAM College got a walkover against the Government College of Education in the second match. In the women section, GGM Science College emerged victorious against the Government SPMR College of Commerce. The matches were officiated by Pooja Sharma, Sahil Dev Singh, Shibali Bhau and Sandeep Singh. 

Cultural programme for elderly

To commemorate International Day for Older Persons, the Extension Unit of MIER College of Education on Monday organised a cultural programme at the Old-Age Home, Amphalla. More than 35 students of the extension unit participated in the programme under the guidance of Suman Devi, incharge, extension unit. In addition to different cultural activities, which included folk songs, bhajans and dance. Students also conducted a yoga session for the older persons.
