The state continues to fare poorly in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G).

Sources said Jammu and Kashmir was among six states/UTs where not even one beneficiary had been identified so far. The others were Arunachal Pradesh, Lakshadweep, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland.

Overall, only 92,287 (21.9 per cent) beneficiaries of a total of 4,22,298 across the country have been provided land for constructing houses so far.

The sources said the state also lagged behind in seeding beneficiary database with Aadhaar in the Management Information System portal of the Union Ministry of Rural Development Department.

They said the state had not been able to take advantage of new modules that had been enabled for bank reconciliation and online utilisation certificate (UC). The authorities are yet to submit UCs of the works done under the centrally sponsored scheme to the ministry, which had, however, made it clear that it was mandatory to ensure the timely submission of pending UCs for the release of funds.

Under the PMAY-Urban as well, the progress of the state is more or less the same. As per information, 14,577 houses have been sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for slum dwellers till date. However, only 7,023 have been constructed so far.
