State taekwondo meet from today

JAMMU: The 11th Open J&K State Kyorugi/Poomsae Taekwondo Championship 2018 is all set to begin at the new indoor complex of the MA Stadium here on Monday.

The 11th Open J&K State Kyorugi/Poomsae Taekwondo Championship 2018 is all set to begin at the new indoor complex of the MA Stadium here on Monday.

The two-day meet is being organised by the J&K Taekwondo Association under the sub-junior, cadet, junior and senior categories.

Under the aegis of the Taekwondo Federation of India recognised by the J&K Olympics Association, as many as 800 players are participating in this championship.

J&K Taekwondo Association spokesperson Subash Shastri announced the two-day championship and briefed on the programme of the event. He also announced the organising committee of the championship, with Taekwondo Federation of India acting president and J&K Taekwondo Association president DN Pangotra as the chairman, Jagjit Singh as the convener and Anuj Sharma as the organising secretary.

J&K Taekwondo Association joint secretary Ramesh Chander Sharma said the championship would commence at 4 pm at the new indoor complex, MA Stadium, Jammu, on Monday.

During this championship, the best player will be selected to represent the state in the forthcoming Junior National Championship at Karnataka.

The technical team will be headed by international referee Atul Pangotra along with his team of officials.
