Students of Jammu Sanskriti School bagged medals in the 11th Open J&K State Taekwondo Championship held on November 28 and 29 at the MA Stadium. Eight students, Mehak Sharma, Armandeep Kour, Harjot Singh, Himanshu Dhallam, Aditya Kaith, Rakshit Sahotra, Pihu Charak and Rajnish Kumar, won gold medals. In all, 16 students clinched silver and 14 bagged bronze medals. tns
Poem recitation contest
An inter-section English poem recitation competition was organised for the students of the preparatory wing at Delhi Pubic School, Jammu. The students recited poems on topics such as ‘Save girl child’, ‘Say no to corruption’, ‘Say no to polybags’, ‘Save trees’ and ‘Our national flag’, etc. The first position was bagged by Mamliket Malik and Amaya Vaid, while Lakshita Gupta and Syed Hansa stood second. The third position was secured by Jeevika Manhas and Shahzaib Jaffer. tns
Faculty development event
A faculty development programme (FDP), sponsored by the department of science and technology, National Implementing and Monitoring Agency for Training, began at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, on Tuesday. FDP coordinator Supran Sharma said the event aimed at creating awareness of the need and importance of entrepreneurship in an economy and imparting knowledge and skills in guiding and counselling students. tns
