Trump’s U-turn on JK has no relevance: Sonekar

Member of Parliament and BJP national co-incharge, organisational elections, Vinod Sonekar, today said US President Donald Trump’s recent statement offering mediation in the Kashmir issue and saying Hindus and Muslims not likely to go along had no relevance.

Sonekar said the abrogation of Article 370 was India’s internal matter and a “black spot” on India’s sovereignty. “Donald Trump has many times come up with many statements on which he later has taken U-turn. It is his government, his ministry that should take cognisance of his statement, we do not need,” said Sonekar, adding that Trump himself needed to introspect on his statement.

Sonekar, however, refrained to speak on the US President’s remark on “Hindus and Muslims in the state not getting along so great”.
