Governor Satya Pal Malik on Sunday said the most important stakeholder in the peace process was the youth and it was essential to engage them regularly and effectively to give impetus to peace and development in Kashmir.

The Governor said this while speaking with youth during an interactive session ‘Kashmir Youth Dialogue’ organised by Jammu Kashmir Youth Alliance at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre here.

Malik said it was important to show the youth the right direction to channel their creative, intellectual and innovative energies and talents in a productive manner.

Conveying the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards ensuring free and fair elections in the state, the Governor said students were the torchbearers for the emerging societies and urged them to take part in the democratic process as leaders and as participants to shape the new narrative of Kashmir and the state.

He assured full support of the state and Central administration for progress of the state’s youth.

The Governor also participated in a one-on-one interaction with the youth during the session. The participants put forth their grievances and concerns on a variety of subjects, including the state of education in J&K, especially Kashmir, where education is regularly hampered on account of shutdowns and restrictions, delays in conduct of examinations and declaration of results by the universities.

The Governor assured the youth that his administration had taken up the issue of the well-being of Kashmiri students studying in Aligarh Muslim University with the Uttar Pradesh government so that students could carry on with their studies in a safe and secure environment.
