Sidhartha, who supplies milk to a few households in HIG Flats on Rani Jhansi Road, said he had to reach the flats through interior streets. “Initially, I thought of not supplying milk today, but since the agency had delivered the packets of milk, I had to. I started delivering milk at 6 am, and within an hour, I was almost done. I witnessed not even a single person on the entire Rani Jhansi Road and Club Road,” he said.

Even the newspaper suppliers made sure that papers were delivered by hawkers before 7 am.

Like shops, all business establishments and industries remained shut. Many labourers had told their employers that they would do overtime in coming days but would not come to work on Sunday.

“If we are healthy, only then will we be able to earn a livelihood and take care of our families. This is the time to remain united as risk taken can put you to danger. We know that all are going through a tough phase but we should understand the scenario, and make sure that virus does not spread further,” said Gian Chand, manager at a garment unit in Industrial Area.

Meanwhile, after the lockdown in the state till March 31 was announced, residents started sending messages to each other to confirm the news.
