Jind: Nav Durga Public School, Safidon, celebrated annual day 'Rendezvous' here. The domain of the event was diverse, covering musical depiction of the epic 'Ramayana', political satire skit, a mime on overuse of mobile phones and cultural folk dance performances. Birender Singh, former Union Minister, was the chief guest, who appreciated the efforts put in by young students and congratulated the management and staff of the school. Nav Durga Group of Institutions Chairman Shiv Narayan Sharma congratulated students for their performance at a national­-level Mathematics Olympiad.

9 new courses at CGC Jhanjeri

Karnal: Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri, will start nine new courses from 2020-21 session. The proposed courses include BSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, BSc Medical Lab Sciences, BSc Animation & Multimedia, BA Journalism & Mass Communication, BPharmacy, Diploma Pharmacy, BA LLB and BCom LLB. All the courses will be affiliated to IKG Punjab Technical University except law courses which would be affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala. Dr Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Dean Academics and Dr Rishav Kumar Garg, HoD Civil Engineering Department, on Thursday said in the past few years there had been a rise in demand of graduates in these disciplines.

New classroom complex at DCRUST soon

Sonepat: A three-storey classroom complex at Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology will be constructed under the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment rules to conserve water, energy and soil. According to Vice Chancellor Rajindrakumar Anayath, the new fully air-conditioned complex would cost around Rs 16 crore and seat 1,464 students. Differently abled friendly toilets will also be constructed.

‘State-level work plan’ workshop at HAU

Hisar: A one-day workshop on 'State-level work plan - 2020 for Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Haryana and Delhi states' was held at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University here. Vice-Chancellor KP Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. The VC said, "About 86 per cent of the country's farmers are small and marginal. Of these, 65 per cent are below the age of 35 and are least interested in agriculture, which is a matter of concern. "According to a report of National Sample Survey Organisation, Ministry of Statistics, Government of India, during 2012-2013, an average farming family earned Rs 6,426 per month that increased to Rs 10,329 per month during 2018-19. In this way, we can increase the farmers' income by more than double by 2022," he said.

Placement drive at school of business

Hisar: Twenty students of Haryana School of Business of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology here have been selected at the campus placement drive by a Delhi based ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company, conducted by the training and placement cell at the university. Vice-Chancellor Tankeshwar Kumar and Registrar Harbhajhan Bansal congratulated the selected students. Director (Placement) Pratap Singh highlighted the achievement of the company. HR Manager Sakshi Tiwari, from company, conducted the drive in which 36 students of MBA and MCom participated.

Placement drive at Damla Polytechnic

Yamunanagar: As many as 65 students of Seth Jai Parkash Polytechnic, Damla, appeared for a test and interview for placement in Bajaj Auto Ltd. Of these, 27 students of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and electronics and communication engineering have been selected. Principal Anil Kumar said the institute was making best efforts for 100 per cent placement. He further said companies like Maruti Suzuki, Daikin India, Wipro, Asian Paints and others would also visit the campus for placement.
