Hunt for the right course and college begins soon after the declaration of Class XII results. For many students, however, a three-year traditional degree course is not that attractive as they are more keen on getting skilled to be able to start earning early. If you’re creative and love to make personalised style with bold design choices and a unique sensibility, then there are a lot of opportunities waiting for you in the apparel sector. The apparel industry is one of the most important sectors with regard to trade and employment generation all over the world. After Class XII students can opt for short-term courses offered by the Apparel Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC), which has been set up under the umbrella of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). 

The council has been a major instrument in imparting skills in various spheres of the sector. Not only is a lot of scope and possibilities waiting for students in this sector, but they can also look for options that go beyond the horizon these courses. Here are some  job-oriented courses designed by AMHSSC that students can opt immediately after Class XII: 

Export Assistant

An export assistant manages all processes in the export department of a company, which include preparation & management of all shipment related documents, interpret export financing methods and terms of payment. He/she needs to have deep knowledge of Indian and foreign trade policies and operations to ensure effective management of the exports business.

Duration: 270 hours.

Job opportunities: After the completion of the course, an export assistant can reach the next level as an export executive on the professional front. He/she can easily work in any export houses.

Salary: A minimum of Rs 10, 000 per month.

Processing Supervisor (Dyeing & Printing) 

The processing supervisor is overall in charge of processes related to dyeing and printing of textile products monitoring production, quality and timely delivery of products suitable for next operations. He also ensures discharge of effluents as per defined statutory norms.

Duration: 500 hours.

Job opportunities: A processing supervisor can become the manager in dyeing and printing units after completing this course.

Salary: A processing supervisor can earn approximately Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 per month.
