Students across the country will soon have new syllabus of tourism and hospitality management as the All-India Board of Tourism and Hospitality Management (AIBTHM) of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) decided to restructure it as per the new education policy at its meeting held here online on Thursday.

Prof SP Bansal, chairman of the AIBTHM and Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur, said timely initiatives to include need-based courses and revise the curriculum, according to the mandate of the New National Education Policy-2020, was of utmost importance.

While maintaining that the tourism industry had been affected the most during the Covid crisis, he said the recommendations of the board would be submitted at the council meeting of the AICTE for implementation across the country.

He said the curriculum of undergraduate and postgraduate classes of the tourism and hospitality sector would be of multiple exit options, flexible and multi-disciplinary. He added that a core committee of expert members had been constituted. Prof Anil D Sahasrabudhe, chairman, AICTE, also addressed the board meeting.
