Join hands to tackle issues of water pollution, says expert



Jalandhar, February 13

A two-day International Conference on Chemical, Bio and Environmental Engineering (CHEMBIOEN-2020) concluded at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology. The conference was funded by Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme of World Bank.

Dr SJS Flora, Director, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony. He shared his experience of NIPER and DRDO with the participants and emphasised on the inter-disciplinary research.

During the inauguration ceremony, Prof LK Awasthi said Chemical, Bio and Environmental Engineer are complementary to each other, and they should join hands to tackle the local environmental issues of water pollution. He urged to discuss the solution to the local problems of chromium pollution, stubble burning, and water resource protection during the conference.

Dr JK Ratan, Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering Department, and Organising Secretary, International Conference said papers had been delivered on topics including e-waste management and smart surfaces for water harvesting and purification technologies.

The conference was jointly organised by Dr SK Mishra, Dr Sangeeta Garg, Dr Ajay Bansal, Dr Deepak Sahu, Dr Anjireddy, Dr Anish Sachdeva, Dr Vinay Midha, Dr Rajiv Trehan and Dr AL Sangal.— TNS
