Ludhiana: Among various competitions held at Thapar University, Patiala, Girls of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, proved their mettle by bagging various prizes. Himanshi and Harman secured first position in poster presentation in Mathematics. In a different category of model making in Mathematics, Surbhi and Yashvi got Ist position while Komal and Vanita got Second position. From the Physics Department Aarushi Jain and Prabhleen Kaur got Third position in Poster presentation along with Priyanshi & Harsimranjit Kaur bagged First position in Poster Presentation in Botany. Dr Mukti Gill congratulated the students and applauded the efforts of students and faculty members.

Annual show ‘World Voyage’ organised

Ludhiana: BCM kindergarten, Chandigarh Road, organised 'World Voyage' the annual show of LKG on February 26 and 27. DP Guleria (Principal) graced the occasion and lighted the ceremonial lamp. The BCM students left the audience spell bound with their well co-ordinated dance performance on Chinese, Arabic, Hawai, English and Indian songs. The colourful traditional attires and appropriate props gave audience a rich flavor of these countries. All the participants were given trophies as a mark of recognition of their efforts in giving a wonderful show. Guleria addressed the gathering and thanked the parents for their constant support. Headmistress Mrs Pragati Kapoor proposed the vote of thanks. — TNS

School of Design & Innovation winner

ICT University organised an inter-school competition 'Tarang' wherein all schools namely School of Management Studies, School of Humanities and Physical Education, School of Law, School of Engineering and Technology, School of Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare Sciences, School of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, School of Hotel Management, Airlines and Tourism and School of Design and Innovation participated. The students from all the schools participated in events such as skit, mime, best-out-of waste, collage making, rangoli, mehandi, face painting, documentary, short film, 'Tasveerien bolti hai', a selfie contest etc. The overall trophy was lifted by School of Design and Innovation followed by 1st Runner up by School of Engineering and Technology.

Workshop organised

GHG Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar, organised one-day national-level seminar-cum-workshop under UGC PARAMARSH Scheme. The theme for the seminar was NAAC: Revised Accreditation Framework. Prof SP Malhotra, Director ETMA; chief consultant at MHRD and former National fellow at NIEPA was the resource person on the occasion. The event commenced with the recitation of college shabad followed by formal welcome of the resource person and the other dignitaries by Principal Dr.SarbjitKaurRanu. Dr. Manu Chaddha, Associate Professor in the college, made the audience aware about the whole process of NAAC along with the various criteria of writing Self Study Report. While speaking on the occasion Prof. S.P. Malhotrahighlighted the difference between the present and former process of NAAC Assessment and Accreditation. He also provided useful tips on how to prepare and improve the Self Study Report for NAAC assessment. In the technical session queries of the participants on various criteria of self-study report were addressed by the resource person.

Book-reading session held in KCW

The Library Committee of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised an interactive book-reading session of their students with the award-winning and the best-selling author Nomita Khanna. The prolific writer Nomita Khanna read out a few excerpts from her recently published and recipient of Author Shout Reader Ready Award 'Rose's Bent Stem', a chilling psychological thriller based on true events. This e-book ranks no. 1 on the Amazon bestseller list in the Horror category. She kept the audience enthralled with her gripping narrative and humorous anecdotes. Afterwards there was a session of questions and answers in which she shared some tips about creative writing.

Centenary celebrations at College

Satish Chandra Dhawan (SCD) Government College will mark its centenary celebrations on March 4, for which a play "Woh Afsaana" would be staged in the college auditorium, said Principal Dharam Singh Sandhu during a press conference. He added the play would be staged in the memory of famous Urdu poet Sahir Ludhianvi and poet Amrita Pritam. TNS
