Ludhiana, February 19
A day after a three-year-old child identified as Baddit Srivastav was killed in a hit and run outside the Saraswati School at the Civil Lines, his kin along with parents of other schoolchildren today held a protest and demanded registration of an FIR against the school principal and the guard for negligence.
Protesters also laid a siege on the DMC road for few a minutes due to which traffic on the stretch came to a standstill. When the police manage to lift protesters, they sat on dharna outside the school.
Later, ACP Jatinder Singh, and the SHO, police Division No. 8, Jarnail Singh, along with the police force reached the spot.
The ACP calmed down protesters on the plea that if in the probe, any negligence of the school administration came to the fore, legal action as per the law would be taken against persons concerned.
“It is clear negligence of the school administration, which has failed to keep a tab over the movement of children. If my child rushed out of the school and came on the road, it was due to the careless attitude of the school guard and the school principal. We want action against school else we will launch strong agitation,” said Ravi Srivastav, child’s father.
Meanwhile, the police have identified Ford Endeavour driver Vishal Kumar, a resident of Prem Nagar, whose SUV ran over child, but he was yet to be arrested.
