‘Cheat days are a motivation’

For Anchal Singh, fitness is about physical, emotional,mental & spiritual well being

A Chandigarh girl (she was born and partly brought up here) Anchal Singh’s journey has been reverse of sorts. Her first movie Sri Siddhartha Gautama was a Sri Lankan film, Tamil cinema followed and only now, 300 commercials later, Pollywood happened. 

But it all started during a two-day trip to Mumbai with a commercial for Dena Bank. “I was all set to study for IAS, having taken political science honours in college,” shares the girl, all set to star in her first ever Punjabi outing Punjkhaab, a film in which she plays a young girl to a 45-year-old. 

“It feels so good to connect with my own people, speak my own language, Punjabi, and do something for my own people for I am a sardarni.” 

Amidst a few queries on her journey, first break and Chandigarh, there’s no missing out on her fitness regime. 

Fitness is…

Fitness spans any restricted definition. It’s about physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well being. 

Hardly a gym girl

Oh, I have joined so many gyms and shifted a lot of trainers as well, but I am hardly a gym person. I’d rather be out in nature, go for a run, do yoga or dance in the house than just gym.

Diet plans

I’m a vegetarian but I do have egg whites. I also like to have dinner by 7 or 7.30pm. It’s a good enough time to fill your tummy and also you can pretty much include anything and it will get digested well in time. If you have dinner by 9 then that’s not a good time to have lots of carbohydrates. I like to include proper Indian khana in my diet like dal sabzi and also lots of soup and salads. 

Power foods galore

I love seeds and include them generously in my diet. Like flaxseeds, chia seeds, sunflower seeds and cold pressed coconut oil. 

On the cheat days

If you deny yourself any food, you crave that food group all the more. Cheat days are also a motivation to have well-balanced diet on other days. On cheat days I have everything and anything. But I specifically like chocolate ice-cream and the cakes that my mother bakes at home.
