We haven’t seen you on big screen after Dhadak. Why?

Unfortunately, after Dhadak I did not get anything substantial which interested me. Though Dhadak has got a warm response from the audience and my role was also appreciated, but still nothing challenging came my way. It was not a great time for me. But, I waited with patience for the right project to happen.

Is your height an issue in getting work?

Yes, you can say that. Our industry is not open to actors who are vertically challenged. I also had my share of struggles and it was not an easy ride.

How did Baalveer Returns happen?

I won’t say I am lucky but yes I am definitely blessed to play a double role in Baalveer Returns. I was a part of season one and I am grateful to Vipul Shah who has given me the opportunity once again.

How is the response for the new season of Baalveer?

My character Tauba Tauba and Duba Duba are immensely popular amongst the audience, especially kids. I remember when I was shooting for Dhadak in Udaipur, people used to recognise me. I am happy that the viewers are appreciating me in the new season.

How did you overcome your physical challenges?

I used to be a shy person and had lack of confidence. But when I started doing theatre, all my inhibitions and shyness went away. Theatre gives you the power to explore. Performing in front of a live audience gives you a lot of confidence. And appreciation for the same just doubles your confidence.

What are your future plans?

I have a dream of coming up with an institute where I can give training to actors who are vertically challenged and also who are not doing well financially. I feel if you are talented, physical challenges do not make a difference.

How has life been on personal front?

I had an arranged marriage with Alka. I am 4 feet 2 inches tall and she is over 5 ft. But this height gap has never been an issue. Alka plays an important part in my life and we have two wonderful children. Life is good.
