Amidst the ongoing #MeToo movement, Mukesh Chhabra has been sacked from his directorial debut movie Kizie Aur Manny. Now, we hear that actress Lara Dutta, who was about to sign a project with Mukesh’s company, has also stepped aside.
Lara’s husband Mahesh Bhupathi lauded her move and said that it is not enough that people were just losing clients and projects. In a long social media post, Bhupathi said that society must treat these people as guilty till they are proven innocent.
Bhupathi says he feels more strongly about it being the father of a six-year-old daughter. He wrote, “Two days ago my wife, who’s shooting out of town, got an offer from a leading international digital platform through Mukesh Chabbra’s company…. Later, Lara got in touch with the digital platform and told them she wouldn’t accept work through this company specifically. I think she did the right thing. I’m not sure it’s enough, though.”
