A bond that sparkles with time & how

Even after being married for 21 years, Dr Manpal Narula and Dr Neetu Narula have a love-life which is full of surprises and they say it only gets better with time…

Parents played cupid

Manpal Narula: It is our parents who set us up together. Love happened when we began discovering each other.

Neetu Narula: Our story began immediately after my MBBS when my parents were really keen on me saying yes to him and I wanted to take my own sweet break after studies.

Marriage was next

M We decided to get married during her internship after a brief but rocking courtship period. It was quick enough, so that she doesn’t change her mind.

N Actually, I had thought I would say no, but then the Big Yes was instant as it was destined and also because I felt a beautiful connect of a friend with him. The marriage happened within six months of our awesome courtship while I was an intern in the same hospital as his.

And life changed

M Marriage has made me more stable, responsible and most importantly, more capable of giving and receiving love.

N With all the ups and downs, the responsibilities, our love and our fights, life is teaching us to be more understanding, caring and selfless towards each other.

Together is delightful

M Living together involves a beautiful sense of belongingness, being needed and of course sensitivity to others feelings

N Living together is a feeling of contentment.

Favourite ways

M We both love going out on weekends for some live music and occasional sojourn to the hills.

N Watching movies, travelling and being with our best buddies.

One thing I could change

M  I have a difference of opinion on few of her parenting techniques, which mainly stem from her understandably single-child guilt.

N The pondering silence.

Couple goals

M To bring up our child into a sensitive, responsible adult and be able to save enough money and time to travel to places we both love.

N Travel, working on our bucket lists and our relationship.

Gets annoying, sometimes

M Her time management could do with some improvement and my being an Army child and a Type A personality doesn’t help the cause too much.

N Impatience and the big ‘mess’ the boys create and I have two boys (him and our son).

The wow factor

M She’s a stunning combo of beauty and serenity, which has never ceased to wow me.

N He is a Platinum Person, with a heart of a baby.
