Acting is in my blood: Sana Amin Sheikh

The gorgeous television actress Sana Amin Sheikh plays the lead role of Suchi in Zee TV’s primetime drama Bhootu. Sana talks about what drew her to the role and her special fondness for her little co-stars Arshiya Mukherjee and Viraj Kapoor. 

How did television happen?

I started out as a child artist, playing Savi in Hasratein on Zee TV in 1995. I shot this when I was in school. During my college days, I got into radio as well. My colleagues suggested that I should audition for TV as well. Luckily, the auditions went well and here I am, doing television shows. 

What made you say yes to Bhootu?

I loved the concept of the show, which is different from many other shows that we see on television. There is an immense scope of performance in Suchi’s character. 

How did you prepare for the role?

Acting comes naturally to me, it is in my blood. As far as preparations are concerned, I am work according to the script. I hope to exceed the expectations of the creative team, and the audiences will hopefully love the show. 

Did you face any challenges while shooting?

Every role comes with its own challenges, but I enjoyed working with the kids. Arshiya who plays Pihu and Viraj who plays Gopal are thoroughly professional and adorable. 

Will you allow your kids to act on TV?

I will not force them to take up acting, but if they show willingness, then I’ll support them wholeheartedly.

Which shows do you like?

I do not get time to watch TV shows but when I do, I prefer to watch singing reality shows. Currently my favourite show is Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs.

Any plans to move to the digital space?

The digital audience is completely different from the TV audience. As far as doing something in the digital space is concerned, if something truly unique is offered to me in the future, I might think about it.

What is your dream role?

I have never thought of a dream role. 

Do you plan to work in Bollywood in the near future?

I am doing back-to-back serials and I am satisfied with that. If I want a career in movies, then I need to take out time to give auditions, meet people and groom myself, but I don’t have patience for the struggle that films entail.
