As a judge, what will be your task?

My priority will be to provide a fair and honest chance to talented individuals, who have no connections in the industry. It is a dream opportunity for an industry outsider to turn into a superstar, as they get launched by the big bosses of Bollywood. 

What is required to be a superstar?

It is very difficult to define how superstars are made or the qualities they possess. There is no reason why I love Shah Rukh Khan or Rajesh Khanna, it is a feeling. I cannot express it. The audiences have a personal connect with them. 

What is the response to the concept of the show?

The industry, as a whole, is excited by this concept. Being a creative industry, we are always hungry for fresh and unique talent. A show like this will only enrich the industry. 

Why did you choose to stay away from casting newcomers all this while?

I have always chosen to work with quality talent and with actors that best fit the role. However, now that there is this stereotype attached to me, I would like to break it with India’s Next Superstars and experiment with fresh talent. 

How were the contestants selected for the show? 

We have shortlisted 20 contestants from lakhs of people who auditioned for the show across the country. They are talented, they are passionate and moreover each one of them has a unique quality that sets them apart from the crowd. 

What is your resolution for 2018?

To do more quality work this year. I have collaborated with Karan Johar for a hardcore action film Simmba in which Ranveer Singh plays the lead. Singham 3 is also there. So it is a very busy year for me.
