By organising a prayer meet, the Kapoor family will observe legendary actress Sridevi's first death anniversary on Sunday.

Boney Kapoor with daughters Khushi and Jhanvi held a puja at her Chennai house on her first death anniversary as per ‘tithi’ on February 14.

Now, the family has decided to donate one of Sridevi’s favourite handwoven Kota saris to a non-profit charitable trust, Concern India Foundation, which has put it for auction.

A tweet from Parisera on February 20 invited bids from the sari.

The auction is being held on Parisera, a handcrafted products website.

The bid begins at Rs 40,000 and so far has gone up to Rs 1.25 lakh. The official website describes Sridevi's sari as 'constant reminder of her roots'.

It says, 'Sridevi's style has evolved since her early days in the film industry. But, the six yards has been a constant reminder of her roots. Being born in a south-Indian household, the actress has worn saris as a badge of her identity and has always infused a sense of unique charisma into its pleats."

The amount generated from the auction will go to the welfare of women, children, differently-abled, underprivileged and elderly people.

Sridevi made her mark as a fashion icon with her wide range of saris. From the stunning blue sari in ‘Mr India’ to the gorgeous yellow sari in ‘Chandni’, the world continues to look up to her.

The actress died of accidental drowning in Dubai on February 24 last year. She was there to attend the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah. Her ashes were flown into Tamil Nadu and were immersed at Rameshwaram.
