It’s time to party

HAPPY TIMES: Party buffs at Adda by SOI

Tricity’s night life has stayed under the radar lately. First there was the ‘highway liquor ban’ that robbed the city of its party nights and then followed the timings till 12 at night. However, the party joints have now made sure that all the fun is back and that too in a secure ambience. So, how do the clubs ensure order and safety... we check with the players in the game.

Entry point

For King’s Cross (earlier 10 Downing Street) ‘no stag entry’ is a set rule. Couples are welcome, so are girls and groups, but the entry tags define it well and so does the list. The moment a woman exits, her male companion has to do the same. “Girls would get guys entry in return for cover charges earlier, but we are very vigilant now. Our bouncers and serving staff ensures there is decorum,” shares Ginny Chawla from King’s Cross.

It is only couple and family entry in Social-7 on weekend nights. I-card check is mandatory; the regulars enjoy the perks but if there is someone new, as a precaution, the staff keeps copies of the ID. Says Shaheen Kapur, director, “We are a family restaurant. The ID check is one step to ensure a comfortable time for everyone.”

Bouncer power

Popular hangout joint Peddlers welcomes all, but they take their ‘rights to admission reserved’ seriously. “Ours is more like a pub or resto bar; while singles can come, we bank on our bouncers – male and female - to ensure order in the house,” says the owner Vipul Dua, who finds that things have eased up a bit ever since they got competitors.

Seconds Vikram Rawat, general managaer, marketing, Adda by SOI7, “We are open to one and all – families to stags – and bank on CCTV cameras, bouncers to ensure en enjoyable time for our patrons.”

The Horseshoe Bar Exchange also swears by bouncers and floor staff to ensure a smooth-sailing. “While mostly women come in groups, single ladies are welcome and our staff ensures proper hospitality, including arrangement for safe ride back home if requested,” shares Rajan Mittal from Horseshoe.

Safe & sound

“We prefer couple entry on busy nights. If any single female joins us, we provide full security; female bouncers and managers ensure their safety,” says Dheeraj Kumar, general manager, from Tamzaraa Kafe & Club.

“Clubbing scene in Chandigarh is rather safe,” maintains Rajan Mittal. “Also, it’s the vigilant police and administration that keeps rowdism in check,” he adds.

“In my years in business, not once have I seen a single woman showing up with the sole purpose to check out guys. Only once, just one instance, a rather drunk lady showed up to be politely told ‘we are full’,” states Ginny Chawla.

So, are you ready to party?
