Shrouded in mystery, sudden twists and turns, and then a sudden change in the situation, where everything sways in a lighter vein, with umpteen laugh riot moments, the trailer of soon to be released Punjabi film Judge Singh LLB has already attracted a lot of positive attention, something that the team is gladly chatting about.

Directed by Atharv Baluja, starring Ravinder Grewal, BN Sharma, Sardar Sohi, Chandan Prabhakar and Surbhi Mahendru, Judge Singh LLB is a courtroom drama with elements of mystery lurking at every corner. This work of production is in association with Ravinder Grewal Productions & Artha Film Studios. Sumeet Singh, MD, Unisys Infosolutions & Saga Music, Ravinder Grewal Owner of Ravinder Grewal Productions & Atharv Baluja who owns Artha Film Studios have joined hands as the co-producers. Judge Singh LLB will show many actors in a different avatar, and the first in this is the lead actor of the film, singer-actor Ravinder Grewal.

Find me…

Ravinder Grewal has a huge fan following with his sardari type songs striking a chord with the audience. He is a typical image of a ‘jatt with a gandaasa’. But in Judge Singh LLB, this jatt decides to go underground and let judge be on the forefront. But first, he would want to throw a considerable amount of light on the trailer.

“Of course, I expected good results, but I didn’t expect this kind of response from the people. They have just loved the polarity in the trailer. The mystery and laughter has been blended beautifully by the director Atharv Baluja,” shares the singer-actor, who has transformed into the innocent, naïve, loving son who discovers his real self through the courtroom drama that he has been dragged into.

“Right now I am Judge Singh, who loves his father dearly, who hasn’t practiced law after completing the degree, Judge Singh, who desperately wants to get married and Judge Singh, who supports truth even though he is a lawyer,” adds the singer who removes any doubt regarding his film being a clone of Jolly LLB.

Ravinder has been asked a hundred times about the comparison to which he answers candidly, “Jolly LLB was a great film, and I am sure that we have done the same job. Yes, it was a laugh riot, and so is Judge Singh LLB. Other than that, there are no common points that should draw attention.” Playing Judge Singh, letting those geeky spectacles stuck to his face for days together, wasn’t easy for Ravinder. “I am Judge Singh in the film, you won’t find Ravinder Grewal anywhere,” adds he.

A direct cut

He hasn’t slept for days together, something he needn’t say it loud. It’s written all over director Atharv Baluja’s face. The young director is burning the midnight oil, or so to say burning his studio’s electricity (Atharv owns the popular post-production Artha Studios, Mohali), finalising the final print of the film. This drill is nothing new for him. “I can’t leave my work in-between, I don’t know how to take it easy, I only settle down once the entire work of the project that I have taken up is complete,” shares Atharv, who has co-written the story of Judge Singh LLB along with stand-up comedian Chandan Prabhakar of Comedy Nights With Kapil fame. This is Atharv’s second film. He has shot various Punjabi music videos, but Judge Singh LLB, he zeroes in as a tough one from day one. “First, we worked on the story for over six months, the direction followed by the post production, wherein cutting the trailer was the biggest task.”

Atharv, who is a electrical engineer from Thapar University, said this post-production work gave him sleepless nights. “I cut so many small trailers, but I wasn’t satisfied, till I finally got what I wanted, and I am glad people have accepted it so well.”

Laughing made easy

Chandan Parbhakar has co-written the script and acted in it as well. He holds the key to one of the best laughter moments in the film. “My character is not just funny and light, but one that oscillates between a jealous man to being a good man, which is why it is so real,” shares the actor, who is busy with loads of projects, which he would talk after we see Judge Singh LLB.
