Umpteenth re-runs of Tom & Jerry or that desperate wait to watch Spiderman on the weekends, childhood is incomplete without a hefty dose of Chandrakanta, Shaktiman, Captain Vyom, DuckTales or more recently Pokémon or PAW Patrol. No wonder, we try to keep those childhood memories alive by flipping through our favourite shows. This Children’s Day, we ask celebrities about their favourites...

Right & wrong

My all-time favourite show is Shaktimaan, which didn’t just give me a good time but also taught me a lot of life lessons. I clearly remember how I used to ask my parents about the rights and wrongs that were shown in the show. I often recollect these priceless memories with a few of my school friends, particularly with one, Altaf, who used to live in my society.

Real talent

My favourite movie is Koi Mil Gaya. I love Jaadu from the movie. My most-loved show is India’s Got Talent because the enthusiasm that kids bring here I get to witness live; it’s just not singing and dancing, they bring out much more and it truly inspires me.

— Bharti Singh, anchor, India’s Got Talent

Magical world

Cartoons have been an inseparable part of my childhood, which continue to be even today. My brother and I loved watching Tom & Jerry, and this show called Shaka Laka Boom Boom, which was about a boy who had a magic pencil. We would get so fascinated with the way he would draw and how those drawings came to life. As kids that brought so much hope and kindled our imagination!

— Farnaz Shetty, actress

All for laughs

While I have several childhood memories with my father, watching Takeshi’s Castle was high in our favourite list. We both loved that show immensely due to its humour content and would hate to miss even a single episode. Sometimes my mother would also join us to watch an episode and we would have a good hearty laugh.
