Rakul Preet Singh recently shared a teaser video from her next movie Manmadhudu 2. The Telugu film will see her share screen space with Nagarjuna Akkineni. Right after the teaser video and her character introduction videos were shared, Rakul started getting trolled. The actress was trolled for smoking on screen. Not only Rakul, even director Rahul Ravindran and his singer wife Chinmayi Sripaada were accused of having ‘double standards’. Chinmayi, who had slammed Sandeep Reddy Vanga for his thoughts on normalising slapping in a relationship, was trolled for supporting smoking.

Comparing her character to Shahid Kapoor in Kabir Singh, in a recent interaction, Rakul gave it back to trolls and said, “We are playing characters; in Kabir Singh if Shahid is smoking, that does not make him a smoker. No way he is promoting smoking. He is playing a character. In real life Shahid Kapoor is a vegetarian, we all know that. In this case, it is the story of Avantika, a girl who smokes; once you see the film, people will know why she does. Treat it like the character... for me, it was something different. I really don’t pay attention to trolls...there are bigger and better things to do.”
