The February 14 terror attack in Pulwama left over 40 CRPF troopers dead and the whole nation aggrieved. There have been hard-hitting statements from politicians, claims made by security forces and a lot more at the organisational front.

Alongside, cricketers, actors, NGOs and masses have made donations to support the families of the slain soldiers.

And as the nation mourns the ghastly attack in Kashmir, there are some who decided to pen down their grief as a poem, song and rap for the bereaved families.

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana wrote a beautiful poem in Hindi saluting the martyred CRPF officials, which he shared on Twitter. The verses read, “Desh ka har javaan bahut khaas hai, hai ladata jab tak shvaas hai, parivaaron ke sukhon ka kaaraavaas hai, shaheedon kee maon ka anant upavaas hai, unake bachchon ko kahate suna hai -paapa abhee bhee hamaare paas hain!

Closer home, there is rapper Saheer Banwait who has expressed his understanding of the attack and feels the Internet is loaded with wrong facts. While he agrees with the general emotion of shock and anger, his effort is to focus on what really happened. “I felt compelled to write about the attack because I saw not many know its deep details. I’ve done a lot of research and found out that the suicide bomber, Adil Ahmad Dar, was full of rage and he got manipulated by a terror outfit. Now, if we wage a war for those we’ve lost, won’t we end up losing more of our jawans? Isn’t it more important that we get the facts right and not get fuelled by political agendas?” Saahir asks, through his writings and otherwise.

Be it YouTube or Facebook, the sentiment shared is the same. Music label King Paaji has also put the feelings into words through its song Shoorveer. Sung by a 13-year-old girl, Ikjot Kaur, the CEO of this label, says, “There is nothing commercial about this song. We’ve not launched it anywhere and nor do we plan to monetise it. It’s the patriotism in us that we wanted to share with our brethren,” says Prabhjeet Singh.

And the little girl, who sang the song takes pride, in being associated with it. “I signed up for it because I wanted to tell people the freedom we enjoy, the independence with which we live is given to us by our army men. They are giving lives for us, for the country. I want the world to know it’s not easy. We may feel nice and emotional at their win but going to a war is painful for them and their families. We must do something for them. I was crying when I sang the song,” says Ikjot Kaur from Faridabad.

Another one titled Pulwama Attack Song on YouTube says it’s our own system that is responsible for the fallout. It pleads the government to scrap Section 370.

Vande Mataram and other patriotic songs from films such as Border have been recreated by many and they are all over the Internet.

Even Bhojpuri superstar Dinesh Lal Yadav has dedicated a rap song go ‘Vyarth nahi jaaye balidan har shaheed ke’. This one went viral.

Pain brings out a poet in one, many say. These songs and poems stand testimony to it.
