Jawa Motorcycles launches its new range of 300 cc bike; three variants and a special price, the news made all the Jawa fans make a dash to the showroom in the city to take a closer look at how the bike would now look like!

Mean machine

Aditya Singh and Anmolak Brar, Jawa fans from Mohali, haven’t seen the new model but they have a fair idea of what the bike looks like. “Pictures have been circulating on the social media for quite some time now, so we know how it looks like. In fact, we think both are similar. The original model came in 1970s and the new one looks something like a vintage model,” echo the two. 

Harpreet Singh Gill, founder member of Jawa Yezdi Club, Chandigarh, spent the entire weekend admiring the new models, “The new model has a European feel and design; it is way ahead of its times.” Harpreet shares that almost 15 riders from his club have booked the new bike. “And I am also in line.”

As far as the pricing is concerned, the entry-level Jawa Forty Two is priced at Rs. 1.55 lakh while the retro-looking Jawa is priced at Rs 1.64 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi). The company has also unveiled the factory custom Jawa Perak priced at Rs 1.89 lakh. 

Fan club

Fans feel the mean machine cannot be compared to any other existing high-end brand. “I had gone numb when I had to say bye to Jawa Yezdi,” Amanbir Sandhu, data analyst, shares how he had to literally beg somebody from Tatanagar to sell him the bike at whatever cost he quoted almost five years back. “I could have dug a knife in his heart had we not struck a deal,” laughs Amanbir, who is planning to buy one of the variant for sure. 

For those who do not know, even Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor fell in love with the bike while shooting for his debut film Ishaqzaade. In one of his interviews, he said he had gone crazy cruising on the bike throughout the shoot! Not only this, Amitabh Bachchan rode a Jawa in Parvarish, Shah Rukh Khan in Kabhi Han Kabhi Na; the bike was recently seen in the Punjabi film Bambukat too. 

In the world of Hayabusa and Harley Davidson, this might be a fuel-guzzler but fans cannot care less! Rajnish Sharma calls his affair with Jawa as an eternal one. “Everything about a Yezdi is pure nostalgia, and the new models are no less; they are like the futuristic machines, I like the solid metal body and the throaty roar.”
