Where do you go after becoming successful actors and a powerful couple? Perhaps find other mediums to experiment with your skills or produce a regional movie! “Don’t stop dreaming and believing in yourself,” echo Sargun Mehta and Ravi Dubey, who have had more than decade-long careers that took off from television. Now producing a show, Udaariyaan on Colors, they are leaving no stone unturned to make it a success.
The doting husband that he is, Ravi leaves no chance to praise the managing skills of Sargun, “The idea was totally Sargun’s, as she wanted to reveal the real Punjab. The amount of time she and I had spent in Punjab because of her Pollywood movie shoots or family visits has made us depict Punjab in a different manner. We wanted to present a story that is relatable. Sargun effortlessly does things that she has probably taken up for the very first time.”
Tough task
Ask about the challenges Sargun dealt with to finally make sure the show airs on Colors from March 15, every Saturday at 7 pm, and she says, “In Mumbai everybody is used to certain way of things when it comes to shooting a show, but bringing it all to Chandigarh was another ball-game. To make people understand the discipline of television show is tough and it still is, but I think we will sooner or later overcome it,” adds Sargun.
Basking in the success of his recent web series, Jamai Raja 2.0, which is the digital sequel of his successful show Jamai Raja, Ravi is busy shooting for another web show in Jaipur. Sargun, on the other hand, is waiting for the release of three Punjabi movies this year — Qismat 2, Saunkan Saunkne and Sohreyan Da Pind Aa Gaya.
Real to reel
So, will we get to see them on reel together? Ravi answers, “I would love to work with Sargun not because she is my wife but also for the wonderful actor she is. Hopefully, there will be a good project that comes our way.” About Ravi’s entry into Pollywood, she says, “He is still brushing up his Punjabi skills. I will turn him into a complete Pollywood actor one day,” quips Sargun.
About Udaariyaan, she says, “In Punjab the biggest dream of any family is to go to a foreign country, especially Canada. So, here we have a story that talks about where this deep-rooted dream comes from. It has the spice of love and dedication, which sums up the leads — Jasmine (Isha Malviya), Fateh (Ankit Gupta), and Tejo (Priyanka Choudhary)!
