Finding the best in each other is this couple from Ludhiana. Meenu Mangal is a life caster who does 3D hand and feet impressions from new born to any age group. Anand Mangal is an industrialist. This business duo focuses on the growth and happiness of each other, the secret to their happy marriage.
A traditional beginning
Meenu: Back in 2002, in an era devoid of social media, we were introduced by family friends. Traditionally, ours was an arranged marriage. He was the first boy who came to see me and I feel blessed that things work perfectly for us.
Anand: Interestingly, our common friends had laid the condition to decide in the very first instance but I decided after a couple of meetings with her. As it is rightly said, marriages are made in heaven. I took those couple of meetings because I could feel love and I wanted it to nourish. For me, I can say it was a love-cum-arranged marriage.
Tying the knot
Both: So, finally, after a beautiful courtship of seven months, we got married on September 19, 2002.
Changes that followed
Meenu: Life has been beautiful and tough at the same time. It was after 12 years of our marriage that we were blessed with our first daughter. From a girl in her dream world, I entered the real world in this period. But I have no complains.
Anand: Life has changed completely. There are so many responsibilities riding on you. It is a roller-coaster ride but love and romance help you sail through it all.
Meenu: Living together is all about loving and respecting your partner as your best friend.
Anand: It is wonderful to have someone there for you through thick and thin, good and bad times.
Love doing it
Both: Together we love travelling, exploring new restaurants, trying different cuisines and a must for us is to go on long drives and chat up for hours.
Can be changed
Meenu: He takes a lot of time to decide anything, which I don’t like sometimes.
Anand: She gets annoyed over little things. She is very kiddish.
Both: We aspire to help each other achieve our ambitions and aspirations. The goal is to bring out the best in each other and enjoy life as it comes. And one more very important thing, to raise our daughter to be a wonderful human being.
When it is me time
Meenu: Although life is busy for me with work, bringing up my daughter, managing the household, but whenever I am free, I watch a movie or some series on Netflix, make a new cuisine and play with my daughter Twisha.
Anand: There isn’t much time but whenever there is, I spend it in exploring, innovating, analysing and improving myself, being in nature, day dreaming and play both indoor and outdoor games with my daughter.
How they made it a success
Both: For us, accepting the other person in totality, filling in the gaps or shortcomings and becoming each other’s strength is the key.
For a happily ever after
Both: Focus on each other’s strength, appreciate each other instead of finding faults. Respect each other’s thoughts and views, be willing to accept change with time.
The wow factor
Meenu: He is a very caring and supportive husband. He is my best friend and my biggest critic and he knows to balance it all.
Anand: Everything about her is very special but her creativity and dedication towards her work makes me very proud of her.
Let’s talk space
Meenu: It is important to give space since individual growth aids the growth of any relationship.
Anand: It is extremely important, just like trust, respect and confidence in each other.
A new chance
Both: This was the longest time we spent after our honeymoon. Surprisingly, we were quick to adjust to the changed environment and started enjoying each other’s’ company, found novel ideas to spend the time productively. It definitely brought us close.
To new activities
Both: Health was our main focus. We did yoga and meditation together and played indoor games. We even learnt about Ayurveda and included it in our cooking.
Both: We want to go on a vacation, eat out and hangout with our friends. It has been so long.
