Ever thought of combining denims with fine jewellery? If not, take a cue from these designers

Straight-leg, boot-cut, slim-fit; faded, cropped, flared... In various styles, we all love denims! This cool, comfortable and classy component of our wardrobe will never go out of fashion. But how can we amp them up? This time, give your fine jewellery a chance to take your look to a whole new level. We have celebrity designers who will tell you how to wear this staple with a hint of sparkle!

Designer Neety Singh suggests, “One can go for gold hoops, diamond studs, pendant or a chunky bracelet with denims. If you’d like to experiment, I suggest a contemporary hasli with a pendant. I love layering pendants with my outfits and stacking my wrist.” Adds Karan Jindal, who runs a jewellery brand, “Pearls and diamonds should be used with a ready-to-wear mindset. You don’t need to wear multiple layers of jewellery to make a statement. Sometimes, the delicate pieces can also do the trick for you.”

Tip talk

You can make your regular blue denims the talk of the town with this little piece of advice by Raunak Parekh. “Pair your denim outfit with a traditional kundan set or if you are in a mood for a classic look, go for drop-diamond earrings, which will add grace to your attire. But it is the chandbalis that afford a royal look to the whole outfit.”

In Pooja Mehra’s view, chokers are the new trend. She says, “Nothing beats a diamond and emerald choker. It will be eye-catching and give an instant elevation to the whole attire.”

And how about adding colour to your denim look through jewellery? Easy to combine, coloured gems are an all-time hit. “Emeralds, light and deep shades of rubies, yellow sapphires; all can be worn with denim. Nothing beats navaratna though. I personally think navratna earrings, ponchis and pendants are classic and ooze oomph,” says Neety.

She adds that classics are timeless, “Invest in a pair of gold hoops, diamond studs and balis. You always have the option of stacking your wrist with thin bangles set in chowkis or baguettes, and a thick chunky bracelet when you just want to wear one accessory.”

Lend an ear

A lover of earrings, Pooja thinks they are the most versatile accessory one can have. “Denim and earrings is a match made in heaven! Teardrop and cluster earnings are a must-have if you’re a denim fanatic.”

If your taste is bold and fierce, Karan suggests, “Intricately handcrafted floral rings that showcase splendour. Pearl dangler earrings with blue tourmaline stone will further complement the look.”

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, so you better not miss this rock that always shines. As Raunak says, “A classic diamond ring and an embellished bracelet are a must. These can be worn during the day as well as at night. If you want to have a fresh look, you can always opt for a layered diamond necklace.”
