Goodbye Maldives

Many birthdays, anniversaries and other milestone occasions in people’s lives are being celebrated sitting at home during the lockdown. Sharad Malhotra and his wife Ripci had recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary. The actor tells us about it.

What are you missing the most during the lockdown?

I am missing being in front of the camera.

How are you utilising your time?

There are so many things which I had not done before, basic things like staying at home and cleaning my house. So, I am doing all of that now. I wash dishes and mop floor. It is tiring as I don’t have the habit. I take my dog for a walk. I am reading books and also writing some interesting stuff.

Who is handling the kitchen duties?

I don’t enter that space because if I do, I may not get food to eat (laughs). Ripci is handling it. I seriously didn’t know my wife could cook so well because she is a working woman and keeps travelling.

Are you choosy when it comes to food?

Ripci asks me every day, “Aaj kya khaaoge?” I am blessed to have her and I am glad during the lockdown we are getting to spend quality time together. I remember 2019 was such a busy year for me that I got just two days off for my marriage.

How did you guys celebrate your first anniversary?

We had planned to go the Maldives for our first wedding anniversary and just when we zeroed down on it, the lockdown was announced. I really wanted to go the Maldives. But it’s okay, we celebrated at home. Ripci cooked some amazing food and baked a cake.

What is the first thing you will do post lockdown?

I stay near the beach, so I will go there straightaway, sit and watch the sunset and feel the freedom. It’s been months we haven’t stepped out. It’s like I’m in the Bigg Boss house.
