The versatile Deepika Sekhon, from Panchkula, got an offer to model for a big brand in New York after a photographer friend clicked her pictures for an exhibition in Singapore. However, it all got postponed due to Covid-19.
Deepika, a mother of two, however, continued with interior designing, fashion designing, painting and body tattoos. In fact, she has 14 tattoos on her body to boast of! A Masters in English Literature and Mass communications, Deepika used her education to help groom others. “I have been into modelling and calendar shoots since college days, but motherhood became a priority and all was put on the back-burner, except the quest for fitness,” she says.
The latest feather in her cap came when, just for fun, her friend filled the form for an international pageant, Being She Universe 2020, to be held in Dubai on November 15, where she got selected; but not before a series of interviews and a special session on women empowerment! She will now be the sole representative from India at this international pageant.
She adds, “They look out for the welfare of contestants, their families and the society in which we all live. They also focus on the environment, education and equality. Women are the primary caregivers and educators of the next generation. We have a critical role in bringing about a change in attitudes.”
Hailing from Patiala and now staying with her better half in Panchkula, Deepika has sure found the right platform to realise her dreams!
