Were acting and singing your passion since childhood?

Yes, I have been passionate about acting and singing since childhood. I am a trained Kathak and folk dancer and a trained actor.

You earned fame with your debut song Patiala Peg with Diljit Dosanjh and Punjabi movie Teshan. How was working with Diljit?

I take every film, every song that I do with utmost sincerity and give my hundred per cent to it. Patiala Peg was a huge hit. Working with Diljit Dosanjh has been a great experience. He is a wonderful person. And the movie Teshan is also very special to me.

From Teshan to Khatre Da Ghuggu, which one is your best film so far?

I think as an actor, it is difficult to pick and choose one out of all the films that I have done. For me every film is special and a great learning experience. Right from playing Jinny in Teshan to Sabar in Yaar Annmulle 2 to Meet in Khatre Da Ghuggu, it has been an amazing journey.

How has been the experience working in English movie 5 Weddings?

It has been great working with Rajkummar Rao, Nargis Fakhri and director Namrata Gujral. Though I am a bit choosy when it comes to selecting a film, for 5 Weddings, it was an instant yes.

What new things did you learn during this lockdown phase?

It has taught me the importance of being patient. And also how important it is to enjoy the simple things in life.

What changes do you see in yourself post Covid-19?

Though I have always been content, Covid 19 certainly made me realise the importance of being healthy and the importance of being thankful for each single day in life.

What advice would you give to your fans to stay safe?

I would like to say that it’s a transitory phase and each one of us can contribute towards flattening of the curve by strictly adhering to the advice given by the health experts like wearing a mask, physical distancing and washing your hands regularly.

What is the concept of Mondays with Diljott?

I always wanted to connect with my audience on topics from everyday life. Mondays with Diljott is a motivational video series that I have started on my social media platforms.

Which is the one place you visit in Punjab when you are stressed?

Mohali is the first choice as simply being there puts me at ease. Other than that, it would be my maternal grandparent’s house in Jalandhar.

Which is your favourite Punjabi dish?

It definitely has to be makki di roti and sarson da saag.

Your favourite Punjabi film?

Chann Pardesi and Angrej.

Favorite Punjabi songs?

I love the songs sung by Gurdas Maan ji and Satinder Sartaj.

Tell one thing about Punjab and Punjabis that you like the most?

The best thing is the ability to render selfless service towards humanity that Punjabis are blessed with. That definitely sets us apart.

Three prominent places you would recommend your fans to visit in Punjab?
