Will Ammy Virk and Sargun Mehta's 'Qismat' hold?

One Pollywood jodi that stands out in the industry is that of Ammy Virk and Sargun Mehta. Their collaboration got a thumbs-up from fans post the release of their hit song 'Qismat'. And as the sequel of the film 'Qismat' is all set for release, the actors hope that their successful streak continues to grow.

Ask them if converting the success of the song into a film was intentional and Sargun says, “The film’s script was with Jagdeep since long and Ammy asked me to hear the story once. I fell in love with the script and at that moment, the name Qismat sounded appropriate. Even the sequel, Qismat 2, coming on September 23 in cinemas, is a different story but the theme remains the same.”

Director Jagdeep Sidhu has also roped in lyricist Jaani to act in the film. About his role, Sidhu says it’s more of a cameo. He says, “He is very shy. But people want to see him on screen. Jaani is good looking and he has a great voice. We just tried to fulfil that demand.”

While it will be Sargun’s first outing post pandemic, Ammy has already stolen the show with Puaada opposite Sonam Bajwa.

About Bhuj: The Pride of India not doing so well, he says, “We can’t predict the outcome of a movie and I am sure the makers will reflect on what was lacking in that film. But as far as my role is concerned, I have got positive feedback. I am glad that people liked my character.”

Ammy finds no big difference between Bollywood or Punjabi film industry. He says, “In the end, it’s all about acting, following the script and listening to your director.”

On social media apps and media channels, the actor shows his concern, “No matter how hard you try, but when you are feeling low, an insignificant comment can affect you. We are expected to be on our best behaviour and God forbid, if we lose our cool due to constant provocation, our rudeness will be labelled as our personal trait.”

On the death of Sidharth Shukla, Sargun adds, “It is so easy to talk good about a person when he is gone. The same people were the ones trolling him for his picture post about the Afghanistan situation. Even on Dilip Saab’s death, the media was hounding those who were there. It’s not right to boost TRPs when something sad happens. It’s not a marriage or happy function that one needs to report what the people were wearing and who all came.”

Sargun has back-to-back releases, which include Soheryan Sa Pind Aa Gaya, Cinderella and Saunkan Saunkne. The last film once again pairs her with Ammy Virk. She has also another untitled film with Bellbottom director for which she will soon start shooting. As a TV show producer, she has already made one successful Punjabi show Udaarian and will soon come out with another. Ask her what’s the focus next, and she says, “I am comfortable doing anything that seems fun. I have told Ammy that if you want me to do a song, just ask me, I will be ready with my dancing shoes.”
