While looks is what people notice when they meet you, you need to have talent to survive in the industry, believes actress Sherleen Dutt. However, Sherleen, who has been a part of shows such as KINK and Honey Trap Squad, as well as web series, Koi Jaye Toh Le Aaye and Shringarika, adds that some people still judge you on the basis of looks.

“Looks do play a role, not just in entertainment but in every industry. No matter how much we advocate for talent and hard work, the reality is that first impressions are often visual. People instinctively form opinions based on appearance, whether it’s confidence, grooming, or body language. That being said, while looks might open doors, sustaining success still requires skill, dedication and personality,” she says.

Talking about her experiences, she adds, “I’ve been judged—whether it’s for my weight, height or even the way I dress. In this industry, scrutiny is inevitable. Earlier, it used to affect me, but over time I’ve learned to focus on what truly matters—my craft and my confidence. If someone judges me unfairly, it says more about their mindset than about me. I just make sure I feel good in my skin and move on.”
