Ludhiana, February 19

The Special Task Force Ludhiana wing on Wednesday nabbed SHO Amandeep Singh Gill along with his driver and recovered 10 grams heroin from his possession.

Gill was posted at police division 2 of Ludhiana Commissionerate.

The value of the recovered contraband is said to be in thousands.

Gill also served at Kotwali police station and police station 7 before being posted at police division 2.

The cop had reportedly got a job in the police department on compensatory grounds as his policeman father had died during terrorism.

Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal placed the cop under suspension. He is also likely to be dismissed after the departmental inquiry.

RK Jaiswal, IG, STF, in a press conference said the cop had colluded with a dismissed cop and released the criminals nabbed with 10 gram heroin.

The cop had kept drugs in his custody and released the criminals in lieu of some money.

Jaiswal said role of other police officials of Punjab Police who might be involved in the racket of SHO is being verified and soon more big fish in the department will also be nabbed.
