Ludhiana, December 2

A few platforms at the Ludhiana railway station are in a pathetic condition and need immediate repair.

The poor condition of the platforms is an eyesore and also causes problems for people visiting the railway station.

On a visit, it was found that the interlocking tiles fixed on these platforms have dislocated at various places. According to passengers, the interlocking tiles on the platforms were fixed many years ago and these platforms have not been repaired since then.

“The interlocking tiles have dislocated from several places at some platforms. Moreover, weeds have also come up at some of these. Platform number 6-7 is in an utterly poor condition and several pits have developed on these platforms due to lack of proper maintenance,” said Gurdeep Singh, a frequent traveller.

“Passengers especially those with heavy luggage have to face a lot of inconvenience due to the poor condition of platforms because it becomes very difficult to move on platforms with heavy luggage,” said Vicky, another passenger.

Sweepers at the railway station also complain that it becomes very difficult for them to clean platforms. Passengers want the railway authorities to start repair work of the platforms.

Ludhiana Railway Station director Abhinav Singla said the interlocking tiles on the platforms were dislocated during the rainy season. He said the repair work would start very soon.
