Satguru Ram S4ingh, founder of Namdhari Sect, has contributed for the freedom of the country and his life and philosophy played an important role in bringing reforms in the society. Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, Fisheries and Labour Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said this while addressing a gathering during a state-level function at Bhaini Sahib on the birth anniversary of Satguru Ram Singh.

He said Satguru Ram Singh used non-cooperation as the political weapon against the British successfully. He said non-cooperation movement started by Satguru Ram Singh was also adopted by other eminent freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi.

The Cabinet minister said the sacrifices made by Kuka martyrs under the leadership of Satguru Ram Singh would continue to inspire people and help the masses in contributing for society’s development.

Sidhu said the real tribute to him would be to follow the path shown by him and appealed to people to emulate his basic ideology to bring transformation in society.

Meanwhile, sect head Satguru Uday Singh honoured the minister by presenting a siropa and exhorted the gathering to follow the ideals and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev, other Sikh masters and Satguru Ram Singh. A book penned by famous writer Swaran Singh Virk was also released.
