Ludhiana, March 15

A discussion was conducted on about 100 proposals during the meeting of the MC’s Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) held at the Mayor’s camp office here on Monday.

During the meeting, the committee, led by Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu, has approved a proposal to handover the Sarabha Nagar main market parking lots to a private contractor. Visitors will have to pay for parking of vehicles once the lot is auctioned to a successful bidder.

Around two years ago, the parking site was auctioned for one year at around Rs 25 lakh. However, the site was not given on contract due to the Smart City project work in the market during 2019-20.

The Mayor said tenders would be floated soon for the auction of the parking lots of the Sarabha Nagar main market.

Meanwhile, proposals such as construction/carpeting of roads, installation of tube-wells and sewer system-related works in different wards have been approved during the meeting today.

He said a proposal would be sent for the recruitment of new sanitation workers. As many as 100 proposals were discussed today. The remaining proposals will be discussed on Wednesday.

MC Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal, Senior Deputy Mayor Sham Sundar Malhotra and other officers were among those others present during the meeting.
