Ludhiana, September 24
Amid the incessant rain continuing for the third day, the cattle shed of a dairy collapsed near Lohara village under the MC jurisdiction on Monday. According to the MC officials, around 17 head of cattle got buried under the debris. Of them, six were rescued.
The dairy is located in a colony near Lohara village. The MC team started a rescue operation that continued for more than four hours. Private JCB machines were called to remove the debris.
Sources said the walls of the shed sunk into the ground leading to the roof-collapse.
Superintending Engineer of MC Dharam Singh said JCB machines were pressed into service. “It seems the pillars of the shed were weak. The roof collapsed due to the negligence on the part of the property owner. No person was present there when the shed collapsed,” he said. — TNS
