The Senior Citizens’ Conclave on Tuesday distributed merit-cum-means scholarships to 117 needy students from 13 girls’ colleges, a high school and a senior secondary school, officials said, adding that the total aid amounted to Rs 5,30,000.
The ceremony was organised at the Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust. They said the conclave grants these scholarship on an annual basis.
Rakesh Bharti Mittal, chief patron, Col RK Jain, president, Manjula Jain, vice-president, Col RP Singh, organisational secretary, and NC Jain, finance secretary handed over the scholarships to the students.
Earlier, RK Jain welcomed all and thanked conclave members for contributing for the scholarships.
He also delved into the key points of the scholarship scheme and other charitable activities undertaken by the senior citizen’s group.
“Since its inception in 2005, the conclave has been engaged in the activities for the upliftment of the poor and needy. It is forging ahead as a successful non-government organisation (NGO), Jain added. Concluding the function, he lauded the members of the conclave for the years of service by them.
