13 arrested for gambling

Ludhiana: The Basti Jodhewal police have arrested 13 persons under sections 13A/3/4/67 of the Gambling Act and sections 269/270 of the IPC. On a tip-off, the police raided a house in Hira Nagar on Kakowal Road on Sunday. They seized Rs 70,000 and a pack of cards from the possession of the suspects. Those arrested have been identified as Rajesh Kumar, his brother Rajan, Sunil Gupta, Jatinder Kumar, Harwinder Kumar, Vikas Kumar, Vipan Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Pappu Kumar, Kapil Kumar, Parmod Yadav, Deepak Kumar and a woman. Woman, son missing

Pinky Goyal (26) has been reported missing with her son Bhavik (15 months) from her house in Kailash Nagar since June 25. In a complaint to the police, her husband Satish Singla said when he came home in the afternoon to have lunch, his wife and son were missing. He apprehended that both might have been abducted by somebody and held captive. The police have registered a case under section 346, IPC. OC

Nine-year-old girl raped

The Ladhowal police have arrested Joginder, a native of Uttar Pradesh and at present residing at Hambran, under sections 376 of the IPC and 3/4 of the POCSO Act for allegedly raping a nine-year-old minor girl who lives in the same locality. Her mother told the police that on June 27 when she returned from work in the afternoon, her daughter told her that the suspect entered the room and raped her. OC

Girl missing, one booked

The Moti Nagar police have booked Abraj, a resident of Baba Deep Singh Nagar in Sherpur, for allegedly abducting a minor girl aged 14 years who resides in the same locality. Her father said his daughter had left home on June 27 without telling anyone about her whereabouts. On making enquiries in the locality, he came to know that the suspect had abducted the girl on the pretext of marrying her. OC
