The police have booked at least 14 persons under various Sections of the IPC in assault cases, but no arrest has been made so far. The police have registered a case under Sections 447/323/325/341/506/148/149 of the IPC against Moti Singh, his brothers Budh Singh and Nahar Singh, along with Ujagar Singh, all residents of Bhamian Kalan on the complaint lodged by one Harbans Singh, a resident of Janta Nagar Colony in the city.
The complainant alleged that he had made a deal for the sale of his plot, measuring 125 square yards, in Sant Enclave at Bhamian Kalan with accused Moti Singh for Rs75,000. “I had received advance payment of Rs20,000 and another Rs10,000 was to be paid at the time of the signing of the agreement. However, the accused started construction work and laid foundations in the plot without my consent. When I raised the issue, the accused, along with his accomplices, beat me up and threatened me with dire consequences,” said Harbans Singh.
The Koom Kalan police have booked four persons, identified as Sukha Ram, Kala Ram, his wife Darshan Kaur and Baljit Kaur, all residents of Dholanwal village, under Sections 323/341/506/34 of the IPC for alleged assault on one Avtar Singh, a resident of the same village. The complainant said while going home in the evening at around 7.30 pm, the accused accosted him in front of their residence and thrashed him with sticks due to an old enmity. He further alleged that during the scuffle, the accused also took away more than Rs17,000 and his gold ring. The police were investigating the matter.
In yet another case of assault, the police have booked four-five unidentified persons under Sections 323/341/506/34 of the IPC on the complaint of one Anoop Gupta, a resident of Model House.
According to the victim, while he was going in his Swift car (PB-10FC-3511), some unidentified persons confronted him near Bhuri Mandir on Sham Singh Road in Civil Lines and asked whether he knew Pardeep Kumar Jain. “When I told them that Jain was the father-in-law of my son Dushyant, they attacked me and fled from the scene when I raised an alarm.”
The police were investigating the matter, but no arrest had been made so far.
