16-year-old raped in Professor Colony

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped on Sunday by a man after forcibly taking her to a farmhouse in Professor Colony.

The accused have been identified as Gyaninder Kumar, a resident of Sunet, and Parmod Kumar, a resident of Basant City.

Both are migrant labourers and are living in ‘vehras’ (a common place where mostly migrant labourers live together).

The complainant stated to the police that on February 17, around 7 pm, her daughter had gone to buy biscuits from the market, but she did not return home for around five hours.

It was only around 12 pm at night when she returned home, she started crying. She revealed that accused Gyaninder forcibly made her to sit on his motorcycle and took her at a farmhouse in Professor Colony and raped her.

One of his friends, Parmod, was also part of the plan as he was aware that Gyaninder took her to the farmhouse but he did not stop the latter, she added.

Sub-inspector Manjinder Kaur said a case had been registered against the accused who were yet to be arrested.

Man booked for sexual harassment

The Dugri police have registered a case of sexual harassment almost after a year. The accused has been identified as Akash Goyal, a resident of Rampura, Bathinda. The complainant from Dugri stated to the police that his 10-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted by the accused in March 2018. The complainant said his daughter had not revealed anything to the family earlier due to the threat.
