19 nabbed in Manki murder case so far
US-based man helped suspects financially; of suspects, four are main assailants
The Khanna police claimed to have arrested a total of 19 suspects in the murder case of Gurvinder Singh Ginda (21), who was shot dead at Manki village on November 3. Of the 19 suspects, four were the main assailants while others were those who either gave shelter to the suspects or helped them directly or indirectly in committing the crime.
A US-based man, Jatinder Kumar, alias Tiddi, a native of Rampur, Doraha, now residing in the US, had helped the suspects financially and in arranging shelters for them after they committed the murder. Even B-category gangster Ravi Rajgarh, who was brought on a production warrant for questioning from the Bathinda jail, too had helped the suspects in the conspiracy.
SSP, Khanna, Jyoti Yadav, while addressing a press conference on Tuesday stated that the police also recovered two pistols with magazines and six rounds from the suspects. The police had arrested four of them from the house of Davinder Singh of Ratoke village in Tarn Taran on Sunday morning. They were identified as Harkaran Singh Karan, a resident of Madpur, Gurtej Singh Teji of Chak Sarai, Jaspreet Singh Jassu, a resident of Chak Sarai and Rajveer Singh Lalli of Madpur. They had a criminal past as cases under the Arms Act and of attempt to murder were already registered against them. On Monday, two of the suspects had also opened fire at the police when they were taken for recovering weapons. The CIA in-charge was injured in the incident.
The SSP said during investigation, it came to light that about a month ago, a blood donation camp was held in Samrala, where the complainant Dharampal’s group, ‘Babbu Samrala’ (rivals of suspects), had allegedly abused the father of Harkaran Singh, alias Karan. Subsequently, both groups scheduled time to fight but they never came face-to-face, till the shooting incident. In the wake of the enmity, Karan, with a desire to take revenge, carried out the firing along with his associates.
She claimed that besides, a post was put up on social media by a gangster claiming responsibility for the incident. During probe, while verifying the post, it was found that the same was not posted by any gang but by Sukhdeep Singh, a resident of Sri Muktsar Sahib, who is at present staying abroad. It was posted by him to gain fame by using the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
