Ludhiana: The Ladhowal police have nabbed two drug smugglers and recovered 42 kg of poppy husk from them. The suspects have been identified as Jawahar Singh of Choley Patti and Harpinder Singh of Badewal. ASI Ram Krishan said a tip-off was received after which a naka was laid at a strategic point where an Innova vehicle was stopped for checking. During the search, 42 kg of poppy husk was seized. A probe has been launched by the police to bust the entire supply line. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered.. TNS
Jail employee held with drugs
Ludhiana: A lab technician of Central Jail, here, was arrested by jail staff and 1,750 intoxicating tablets and a mobile phone were seized from him. He has been identified as Ranjit Singh of Lyali Kalan. Jagraj Singh, Assistant Jail Superintendent, said on Wednesday when the lab technician came to duty, a CRPF jawan recovered banned tablets, which was concealed in shoes, during his frisking. A case under the NDPS Act and the Prisons Act has been registered against him. TNS
