The injured are undergoing treatment at DMC Hospital
Two persons were killed and two others seriously injured on Friday after a speeding car crashed into a divider and rammed into a motorcycle on the elevated stretch of the Moga–Ferozepur highway near Verka Milk Plant Chowk on Friday.
According to police, the accident was caused by overspeeding and a sudden tyre burst, which led the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
According to police and eyewitnesses, three youths were travelling towards Tharike from Bharat Nagar Chowk when their car, allegedly at high speed, hit the divider, flew over it and then struck a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. The motorcyclist, 42-year-old Jagdish Kumar, was returning home after dropping his children at school.
The injured were rushed to DMC Hospital, where Jagdish Kumar and Gauransh, who was driving the car, were declared brought dead. Two other students travelling in the car are undergoing treatment.
Jagdish Kumar worked at a courier company and was the sole breadwinner of his family. He is survived by his wife and two children. Gauransh was a journalism student at PCTE Baddowal. His father runs a factory, while his mother is a homemaker.
