2 doctors test positive

Four more persons tested positive for Covid-19 in the district today. They include a retired Army officer, a relative (from Chowni Mohalla) of the Covid patient who died at the DMCH on May 29 and two doctors of Mohan Dai Oswal Hospital. Both doctors possibly contracted the virus from a patient who was admitted to the hospital on May 28.

The retired Army officer (86) visited Mohan Dai Oswal Hospital for the treatment of some disease. His Covid test came positive later. He is resident of Fauji Mohalla.

Meanwhile, nine staff members at Deep Hospital were quarantined after two patients admitted at the hospital tested positive. One of the patients had stayed there only for two hours. He was referred to the DMCH. The other was later shifted to the CMCH.

The staff members whose samples were taken include one doctor, two housekeeping employees and three nurses.

People should be extra careful: Civil Surgeon

The Civil Surgeon, Dr Rajesh Bagga, said since more relaxations had been given in the lockdown, people should be extra careful while venturing out. “People should go out only if it is necessary. Think once again before stepping out, if going out is so essential,” said Dr Bagga.

“Not wearing a mask or wearing one improperly shows ignorance that will only compound our problems further. I have seen people hanging masks in the neck, which is not at all accepted. Masks are for their own as well as others’ safety. The other person you are talking to can be asymptotic and you might catch infection. Always wear a mask properly while going out,” said Dr Bagga.

Another important thing that should be kept in mind is sanitiser. “Like other necessary things, make it a habit to keep sanitiser in your bag. Always carry your own sanitiser instead of asking someone to lend you one. Sanitise your hands after buying something or after opening doors or touching knobs at public places,” he said.

Shopkeepers should get foot-operated sanitiser dispensers installed at their shops so that customers enter their shops with clean hands. Keep a safe distance and only two persons should travel in a four-wheeler, said Dr Bagga.
